The Silver Laced Wyandotte is the first color variety of the Wyandotte family. It originated in New York State in the 1870s and was standardized by the American Poultry Association in 1883.
Silver Laced Wyandottes have silvery white feathers, with each feather laced in black around the entire edge of the web. They have clean legs, yellow skin, a bright red rose comb with a spike, red wattles, and red earlobes.
The characteristic shape of a Wyandotte is round, with a full breast and a short tail. These exhibition type Silver Laced Wyandottes display the correct balance of type and color. With their calm temperament, they make an excellent choice for exhibition.
In addition to their graceful beauty, Silver Laced Wyandottes are also valued as a dual-purpose egg-and-meat breed. They are early maturing, produce fine textured meat, and lay a good number of medium-size eggs in various shades of brown. The hens may brood and make excellent mothers.
The Silver Laced Wyandotte is also a good forager and makes a wonderful pet. No wonder it remains the most popular member of the Wyandotte family of chickens.

Jennifer Christman –
My chicks all arrived super healthy and beautiful. I received one extra chick, who was also healthy as can be. Very pleased with the shipping and customer service. I did notice that for “exhibition” type chicks, their rose combs were not to standard rose shaped comb, but rather a single pointed type comb on half the chicks. It was about 50/50 on showing quality. These were purchased for next year’s 4-H chickens. Only half will be able to show well. So, for this reason it received 4 out of 5 stars. Overall not too bad.
