Wheaten Cubalaya Bantam chickens for sale are a unique choice for backyard flock owners who want a rare ornamental bantam with Cuban heritage, heat hardiness, and bold show-bird style. The Cubalaya breed originated in Cuba during the 19th century and is considered an Oriental chicken breed, with roots believed to trace back to birds from the Philippine Islands.

Cubalaya Bantams are the miniature version of the standard-size Cubalaya. These rare breed chickens are known for their pea combs, impressive carriage, short beaks, broad short heads, and well-spread tails carried low. Roosters are not typically known for producing full spurs, although some may develop small nubs.

The Wheaten Cubalaya Bantam has attractive wheaten coloring and a distinctive, refined look that can make it a superb show bird for 4-H or FFA students. While this specific wheaten variety is not yet recognized by the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection, other Cubalaya color varieties, including Black, Black Breasted Red, and White, are recognized.

This breed is slow to mature and develops hard feathering, which helps make it very heat hardy. Hens are frequently broody and can be excellent mothers. However, Cubalaya Bantams can be aggressive, noisy, and do not tolerate confinement well, so they are not always recommended for mixed flocks or small urban setups.

If you are looking for rare bantam chickens for sale, Wheaten Cubalaya Bantams are a striking way to add history, heat tolerance, and exhibition-style presence to the right backyard flock.
