Golden Sebright Bantam Chicks are a beautiful choice for backyard flock owners who want a small ornamental breed with bold personality, elegant color, and strong exhibition appeal. This true bantam breed emerged in England around 1810 after Sir John Saunders Sebright spent about 30 years developing it. The Golden Sebright Bantam was admitted to the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 1874.

Golden Sebrights are true bantams, meaning they are not a miniature version of a larger standard-size breed. Hens and cockerels are very similar in size, feathering, and appearance, with rose combs and striking golden feathers edged in dark lacing. Cockerels weigh about 22 ounces, while hens weigh about 20 ounces.

This breed is active, alert, and courageous, often acting much larger than its small size. Golden Sebright Bantams are not especially docile and are not known for going broody, making them non-setters. They also have large wings and can fly well, so a secure coop or covered run is important for backyard keeping.

Golden Sebrights are best suited for warmer climates because they are not especially cold hardy. They can also be challenging to breed and hatch, which adds to their specialty appeal. If you are looking for bantam chickens for sale, Golden Sebright Bantams are a wonderful way to add beauty, energy, and show-quality style to your backyard flock.
