Silver Duckwing Phoenix Bantam hens and roosters differ markedly in plumage color. The hens’ feathers mix black with white to yield the appearance of gray, complemented by a salmon-colored breast. The roosters’ plumage is a graceful contrast in pure white and pure black feathers, enhanced by long, flowing black tails.
Admitted to the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 1965, the Silver Duckwing Phoenix Bantam can be a challenge to exhibit. To ensure maximum tail length and appearance, this breed benefits from clean housing with plenty of perch space.
Phoenix bantam hens are excellent mothers. They generally start laying at the age of around 4 months and continue laying small but abundant eggs.
